AVO Process

If you are in danger, please call the police on 000. To contact your nearest WDVCAS service call 1800WDVCAS (1800 938 227).

1. Incident Occurs

A Domestic violence incident occurs and is reported to the Police.

2. WDVCAS Call

Women's Domestic Court Advocacy Service call within 24 hours to provide support, referrals and assistance.

3. Court Process

The case is heard in Court and if all parties agree, a final ADVO is made for a specific amount of time.

4. Immediate Protection

A provisional ADVO will be made if the woman is fearful and needs immediate protection.

5. Ongoing Protection

Police will continue to ensure the order is not breached in any way.

6. Ongoing Support

WDVCAS provide referrals to localised support services available to women.
